Dialysis

Shri Balaji Diagnostic is a premier healthcare facility offering comprehensive dialysis services for patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) and end-stage renal disease (ESRD). Dialysis is a critical treatment that mimics the kidney’s function by removing waste products and excess fluids from the blood. Below is a detailed overview of the dialysis services provided at Shri Balaji Diagnostic, including some of the common surgeries associated with dialysis.

Hemodialysis (HD):

  • In-Center Hemodialysis: Patients visit the dialysis center multiple times a week where they are connected to a dialysis machine. The machine filters waste and excess fluids from the blood through a dialyzer (artificial kidney).

  • Home Hemodialysis (HHD): Trained patients perform dialysis at home with a portable dialysis machine, providing flexibility and convenience. Regular follow-up and support are provided to ensure effective treatment.

Peritoneal Dialysis (PD):

  • Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis (CAPD): Patients perform manual exchanges of dialysis fluid several times a day using a catheter implanted in the abdomen.
  • Automated Peritoneal Dialysis (APD): A machine (cycler) performs exchanges automatically while the patient sleeps, providing more freedom during the day.

Nocturnal Dialysis:

  • In-Center Nocturnal Hemodialysis: Patients undergo longer dialysis sessions overnight at the center, allowing more gentle and effective removal of waste products and fluids.

  • Home Nocturnal Hemodialysis: Similar to in-center nocturnal dialysis but performed at home, offering greater flexibility and improved quality of life.

Pediatric Dialysis:

  • Specialized dialysis services tailored to meet the unique needs of children with kidney failure, including both hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis options.

Pre-Dialysis Care

Education and Counseling:

  • Comprehensive education on CKD, dialysis options, and lifestyle modifications to prepare patients for dialysis.

  • Nutritional counseling to manage diet and maintain optimal health during pre-dialysis and dialysis phases.

Vascular Access Planning:

  • Evaluation and planning for the creation of vascular access for hemodialysis, ensuring timely and effective treatment initiation.
